The Burial Place of Mary, not to be confused with the death bed of Mary (the Dormition Abbey), is, like the Holy Sepulchre, a fifth century church destroyed by Hakim (1009) and rebuilt by the crusaders. It is constructed inside a cave, a feature common to the birthplaces of Jesus, John the Baptist, Mary, and Mary's parents.
