Eilat, 12-15 May 2011
Over 4,000 people from at least a dozen countries are expected to descend on Eilat, Israel’s southernmost resort for Eilat Pride, the city’s annual lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) festival that will take place 12-15 May 2011, with a full weekend of non-stop partying, activities and entertainment.
The festival, which has been timed to coincide with the Eurovision Song competition being held in Germany and will feature live screenings on two evenings, will include the participation of Dana International, Israel’s 1998 Eurovision winner.
The events will take place at the Princess Hotel, a luxury, self-contained resort hotel on the shores of the Red Sea, complete with its own desert valley which will host the official gay pride event – an eight-hour party with internationally-renowned DJs Ana Paula (from Brazil) and Luis Erre (from Venezuela) and live music from Epiphony.
As well as the all-night parties (men, women and mixed) with, among others, American DJ Marco Da-Silva, there will be pool parties with Israel DJs Eran Tubul and Erez Shitrit and beach parties with Steven Redant (from Belgium).
In addition to the Eilat Pride Festival which takes place Thursday through Saturday, festival participants can enjoy a full week of events which includes day trips to the Dead Sea, Jerusalem and local guided tours of Eilat and the Arava Desert, visits to the varied attractions of Eilat, including the Dolphin Reef (swimming or diving with dolphins), the Underwater Observatory, Kings City (theme park) and Timna Park (site of King Solomon's mines), as well as cruises on the Red Sea.
