Machane Yehuda Market, often referred to as “The Shuk” is an outdoor marketplace in Jerusalem. Popular with locals and tourists alike, the market features over 250 vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables; baked goods; fish, meat and cheeses; nuts, seeds, and spices; wines and liquors; clothing and shoes; home-ware, textiles, and Judaica, as well as a number of restaurants including traditional street food and gourmet eateries.

The best of the Machane Yahuda market with Shuk Bites. Shuk Bites is based on a system of vouchers that have been put together to give visitors the opportunity to walk around the shuk to try a variety of products, flavours and aromas of the market and includes a map and punch card.

Your own special tour

Tourists are guided through the abundance of the market enjoying the many different sites and flavours without having to depend on an organized group, or tour.

Culinary delights

The Shuk Bites card includes a variety of food and drinks. Enjoy fresh Jerusalem breads straight out of the taboon oven, Iraqi-style flatbread and the traditional Jerusalem style long baigele rings encrusted with sesame seeds. Also included is a taste of organic coffee alongside the traditional savoury pastry, bourekas as well as a variety of boutique Cheeses, homemade pickled vegetables and local and international spices.

Learn about the natural health benefits and cosmetic products made from local fresh fruits, spices and herbs at the health juice stand. Finish off the tour with Jerusalem-style ice cream flavor with an explanation on how it is made locally. Each tour includes a bonus tasting of halva – a sweet treat made of sesame seeds – and a taste of top quality, locally pressed olive oil.
